$40K Signing Bonus, $15K Relocation Assistance, Thoracic Surgeon Required for Hospital

Job Details: Our client in Windsor, Ontario is looking for a full-time Thoracic Surgeon to join their hospital. The incoming specialist will participate as an equal member of the division with on-call duties while modeling behaviour that aligns with hospital values of respect, excellence, service, compassion, innovation and collaboration.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in both benign and malignant thoracic diseases. This includes and not limited to major and minor lung resection include VATS lobectomy, wedge resection, segmentectomies and pneumonectomy, manage and treat pleural disease include pleural effusion, pneumothorax, decortication VATS or open.

The specialist will also be able to manage foregut problems including benign and malignant esophageal disease, as well as open or minimal invasive esophagectomy, minimal invasive hiatus hernia repair and fundoplication. Candidates will also deal with the gastric pathology like gastrostomies for a malignant or benign pathology which is an asset as well as performing upper GI endoscopy, flexible and rigid esophagoscopy, esophageal dilatations and stent insertion. The candidate must also be proficient in airway management including flexible and rigid bronchoscopy, foreign body retrieval, and management of hemoptysis. Other roles include, participating in the multidisciplinary cancer rounds done every 2 weeks.

The ideal candidate will also have proficiency in minimally invasive skills and there is also the opportunity for robotic surgery. The specialist must demonstrate strong interprofessional skills, and communication skills. Additional languages are an asset as the client serves a diverse population base.

The hospital uses Cerner EMR and does not offer billing support. Payment structure is fee-for-service, and there is no overhead cost to the physician and the range of potential full-time annual earnings will be discussed with candidates during negotiations.

Incentives Available to the Physician: $15K Relocation assistance and signing Bonus of $40K for a 2-year commitment which will be paid upfront.

Clinic Details: The hospital is a regional trauma center and has 22 Operating Rooms and offers nursing support. The hospital is well supported by a multidisciplinary team of Respirologists, Gastroenterologists, Medical and Radiation Oncologists as well as Thoracic Anaesthetists to provide compassionate care.

Requirements:
• Certificate of Registration to practice medicine from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and be certified or eligible for certification in general thoracic surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. 
• Preference will be given to applicants with Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons or American College of Surgeons certification. 
• Current Licensure or eligibility for independent licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
• For US Board Certified Physicians, CPSO pathway licensure is available.
